Construction Heaters for Jobsites — Indirect-Fired & Electric

Authorized and sole Arcotherm distributor for North America since 1993 · Ships to construction sites across Canada and the United States

Construction projects don’t stop for winter. Cantherm’s heaters keep your crews working and your materials protected.

From sub-trade trailers to multi-storey shell heating, Cantherm supplies the indirect-fired diesel and electric heaters that keep concrete curing, adhesives bonding, and crews productive through the coldest stretches of the build cycle. Founded in Winnipeg in 1993 — we know what -40°C does to a project timeline.

What construction operations actually need from jobsite heat

Construction heating is about keeping the project on schedule. A heater that’s down for two days is a crew that’s idle for two days and a concrete pour that may not set. The spec construction operators actually buy against:

Indirect-fired safety around crews. Workers in the heated enclosure means combustion exhaust can’t be in the air stream. Indirect-fired diesel is the standard; direct-fired heaters belong in well-ventilated open-air staging only — never inside an occupied jobsite enclosure.

BTU range that matches the build phase. A sub-trade trailer needs 100K BTU. A residential shell pre-drywall needs 200–300K BTU. A multi-storey commercial shell needs 400K–1M BTU. The right size isn’t aspirational — it’s what actually heats the space to working temperature in the actual outdoor conditions.

Cold-weather starting. A heater that won’t fire at -25°C on a Monday morning is worthless. The Arcotherm line includes single fuel-line kits that recirculate warm oil for reliable cold-weather starting on the EC, PHOEN, and TITAN lines.

Rapid deployment. A jobsite manager who orders a heater on Tuesday for a Thursday concrete pour needs same-day or next-day fulfillment. Standard freight time + customs is too slow when the weather window is closing.

Fuel logistics. Diesel is the default on most jobsites. Bulk fuel tanks paired with the heater rather than constant refueling trips — that’s how a multi-day heating job actually works on site.

Repairability in the field. The igniter that failed at 6 AM has to be replaceable by the site electrician before the 10 AM concrete delivery. That means standard parts in the local supplier’s inventory.

That’s the spec the Arcotherm line was built against.

Cantherm’s approach for construction

The workhorse: Arcotherm EC Series

Indirect-fired diesel. Sealed combustion, clean air output, safe inside the construction enclosure with workers present. CSA approved. Runs on diesel #2, kerosene K1, or jet fuel.

  • EC 100 (112K BTU input, 11 gal tank, 14-hr runtime) — sub-trade trailers, small residential shells, equipment-maintenance bays
  • EC 200 (205K BTU input, 17.2 gal tank, 12-hr runtime) — most-deployed size; residential shell heating, mid-size commercial interiors
  • EC 300 (294K BTU input, 27.7 gal tank, 13-hr runtime) — larger residential, small commercial shells, multi-unit construction

All three run on 120V wall power. Pneumatic wheels for on-site mobility. AISI 430 stainless steel combustion chamber. Four-pass heat exchanger on EC 200 and EC 300.

Larger jobsite shells: Arcotherm PHOEN 400 HC

Indirect-fired diesel, two-stage burner. 412K BTU input on high stage, 57-gallon tank — 29 hours of runtime on low stage. Forklift pockets and single point lift bail for moving around the site. For multi-storey shells and commercial enclosures.

Heavy industrial / very large structures: TITAN and JUMBO

TITAN 750 / TITAN 1000 — indirect-fired diesel or gas with centrifugal fan, 92–93% efficiency, 300 Pa static pressure (handles long duct runs). 240V single-phase power. For the largest commercial and industrial construction projects.

JUMBO 400 / 600 / 800 — indirect-fired diesel or gas with axial fan, 90% efficiency. 120V on the 400 and 600, 240V on the 800. Larger BTU output range when long duct runs aren’t needed.

Indoor finishing / no-combustion work: Arcotherm EK Series

Electric portable heaters. EK 10, 35, or 60 for indoor finishing work, paint drying in ventilation-restricted areas, sites where fuel storage isn’t permitted, or simply when the project manager wants the no-combustion peace of mind.

Beyond heaters

Yanmar YDG portable diesel generators for off-grid jobsite power. TecnoGen Enermax mobile generators for larger power needs (10 kW to 1 MW prime). Western Global fuel tanks for bulk fuel staging. Njordair Fast Tent inflatable buildings for temporary jobsite shelter. Portacool evaporative coolers for summer construction in hot conditions.

Why construction operations choose Cantherm

Indirect-fired safety as the default. Our recommendation engine starts with indirect-fired diesel for any application where workers will be in the heated space. We don’t sell direct-fired heaters for occupied construction enclosures because it’s the wrong tool for the application.

Cold-weather operation is built in. Single fuel-line kit option on the EC and PHOEN lines for extreme cold starting. The Arcotherm line was developed for the Italian Alps and tested for the North American market — winter operation isn’t an afterthought.

Same-day shipping from Winnipeg. Most of the EC line is in stock at the Winnipeg warehouse. Orders placed before 2 PM Central typically ship the same day. For Manitoba construction sites, same-day local courier from Winnipeg.

Parts in inventory + ten-year horizon. High-turn parts (igniters, motors, fuel pumps, thermocouples) stocked locally. Arcotherm maintains parts for ten years past a model’s retirement. The unit your construction company adds today is supported into the 2030s.

Tech support that knows construction specifically. Sizing a heater for a multi-storey shell at -25°C with a tarp envelope is a different conversation from sizing a heater for an insulated residential basement. We’ve had both conversations thousands of times.

Cross-border shipping handled on our side. Cantherm handles customs paperwork and CSA/UL certification confirmation for cross-border construction operations. You tell us the site and the timeline; we work backwards.

Construction operations Cantherm supports

Cantherm equipment is on construction jobsites across Canada and the United States — residential construction crews, commercial general contractors, foundation and concrete specialists, infrastructure projects, and mining-adjacent construction operations. Manitoba construction partners include foundation contractors and skid-steer / heavy-equipment operators serving the Winnipeg region. Construction has been a core Cantherm market since 1993.

Construction-buyer FAQ

Are direct-fired heaters okay for occupied construction enclosures?

No. Direct-fired heaters expel combustion products (carbon monoxide, water vapour, nitrogen oxides) directly into the heated air. Inside an occupied jobsite enclosure with workers, the indirect-fired diesel line (EC, PHOEN, TITAN, JUMBO) is the right choice every time. Direct-fired heaters belong in well-ventilated open-air staging where the combustion products can dissipate.

How do I size a heater for my construction enclosure?

Three rules of thumb for typical jobsite enclosures at -20°C ambient:

  • Tarp envelope shell: 75–100 BTU/h per square foot of floor area
  • Insulated shell pre-drywall: 30–50 BTU/h per sq ft
  • Tight enclosure with finished walls: 20–30 BTU/h per sq ft

Use the BTU calculator for a starting estimate. Then call a Cantherm specialist for the final size — multi-storey buildings, large doors, and weather-tight setup factors change the calculation.

What’s the warranty terms for the Arcotherm line on construction use?

Same Arcotherm warranty as other applications. Cantherm handles warranty work in-house — no shipping units back to Italy. For construction operations with multiple units, we’ll walk through service intervals so the warranty stays valid through repeated jobsite cycles.

Can I rent rather than buy?

Cantherm sells; we don’t run a direct rental program. But many of our Cantherm-distribution rental partners (rental fleets that source equipment from us) handle short-term construction-jobsite rentals. Tell us the location and the timeline — we’ll route you to a rental partner.

How do I handle fuel logistics for a long jobsite heating run?

Most construction operations pair the heater with a Western Global bulk fuel tank — a 100-gallon or 250-gallon tank lets the heater run for days between fill-ups. We can quote heater + tank as a package.

What if the heater fails on site?

Cantherm tech support is the same 204-area-code line as the sales conversation — call us, we troubleshoot. High-turn parts (igniters, motors, fuel pumps, thermocouples) ship same- or next-day from Winnipeg. Most field failures get the heater back up within 1-2 days of the call.

Heating a construction project? Let’s scope it.

Tell us the project type (residential / commercial / industrial), the enclosure dimensions, the build phase (shell / pre-drywall / finishing), the typical outdoor temperature range, and the timeline. A Cantherm construction specialist will narrow the equipment to one or two specific models, recommend a fuel tank if needed, and quote freight from Winnipeg.
